How to Convert MTN Pulse Points to Airtime

By JoyceAugust 3, 2025 MTN Telecoms
How to Convert MTN Pulse Points to Airtime

MTN rewards all subscribers on the MTN Pulse tariff plan with participation points that can be converted into airtime or data plans. I will be sharing tips on how to convert MTN Pulse points into airtime, as well as how to use these points to subscribe to data plans. We are going to be discussing more about:

  • How to convert MTN pulse point to airtime.
  • What you can do with MTN pulse point
  • How to get more pulse points
  • How to migrate to MTN Pulse
  • Code to check MTN Pulse point balance

How to convert MTN pulse point to airtime.

You can convert your MTN Pulse points into airtime, allowing you to call any network. However, this conversion cannot be done directly. Instead, there is an indirect method to achieve this. You can use your Pulse points to pay for certain services on MTN, such as:

  • Daily Data plans
  • Weekly Data plans
  • Monthly Data plans
  • Pulse Stream bundle
  • Nightlife bundles

The lists mentioned above can easily be exchanged for MTN Pulse points. However, you cannot directly convert Pulse points into airtime. If you are looking to convert your MTN Pulse points to airtime, it’s likely because you want to make voice calls. While there isn’t a specific code to dial for this conversion, there is an indirect method to convert your points into airtime.

To be able to make calls with your MTN pulse point, do this instead:

  • Check your pulse balance
  • Ensure you have enough points balance

USSD Code to Get airtime and Data

  • Dial: *406*7*1*3#

This USSD Code will take you to the right page, where you will see the following options:

  • 1500 point for 2GB + 2 minutes call
  • 2000 point for 2.7GB + 2 minutes call
  • 4,500 pints for 10GB + 10 minutes call
  • 6,500 points for 16GB + 10 minutes call

Your choice depends on the number of Pulse Points you’ve accumulated, so it’s important to check your balance first. The offers I mentioned earlier aren’t just examples;  they’re real, available rewards for MTN Pulse users who have earned enough points. This is the only way to convert your Pulse Points into both airtime and data at the same time.

Before we proceed, I have shared important information about MTN Pulse points and how to use them to purchase airtime. It’s important to note that MTN Pulse points are not intended for voice calls; however, they can be used for data subscriptions and airtime purchases as mentioned above.

If someone claims that there is a way to convert MTN Pulse points directly into airtime for voice calls, you should be cautious. While you can use MTN Pulse points for many of the functions that your airtime provides, converting Pulse points directly for voice calls will not work.

What you can do with MTN Pulse point

I have shared some good information about MTN pulse point and the tariff plan that you might be interested in checking out before we proceed:

  • How to Use MTN Pulse Points to Purchase Airtime
  • Code to Check MTN Pulse Point and how to get more points
  • How to Migrate to MTN Pulse (USSD Code)
  • How to get 2GB for N200 MTN Pulse Nightlife plans

Moving forward to what you can do with the pulse point that you might have accumulated over time. Below are the things that you are allowed to exchange with your pulse point:

You will be able to redeem your Pulse Points by using Pulse Points only, or a combination of Pulse Points and Airtime for the following services:

  • Daily Data plans
  • Weekly Data plans
  • Monthly Data plans
  • Pulse Stream bundle
  • Nightlife bundles

Based on the list, you already know that your pulse point allows you to subscribe to daily, weekly, monthly, and streaming bundles. The Nightlife Bundle, on the other hand, is designed for nighttime browsing. MTN’s Nightlife plan offers 2GB for as low as N300. Previously, it cost N200 until MTN increased the price of 500MB from N50 to N75. You can now subscribe to this plan up to four times per night.

Some data offers include voice calls, making it possible to convert MTN pulse points into airtime credit. This is the best way to exchange your pile of points for airtime.

How to get more pulse points

It’s important to know the activities that earn you more Pulse Points. According to MTN Nigeria, Pulse Points is a reward for Pulse customers for the following activities:

  • First-time migration to the Pulse tariff plan.
  • Activation of select data plans: Daily Data plans, Weekly Data plans, Monthly Data plans, and Pulse Stream bundle.

The more you subscribe to any of the mentioned Data plans, the more points you accumulate. It’s that simple: the more points you have, the more you have access to subscribe to expense data plans for free.

How to migrate to MTN Pulse

I have already shared a detailed guide on how to migrate to MTN Pulse here, but I will still share the direct USSD code that you can use to migrate to MTN Pulse easily. To migrate to MTN Pulse:

  • Text 406 to 312
  • Dial *406*1# or *123*2*2#.

The migration is free, but when you change more frequently,y you will be charged N102. If you want it free, ensure that you have used the tariff plan for more than one month before changing.

Code to check MTN Pulse point balance

You must check your point balance regularly. This will help you to know the offer that you qualify to redeem, since it depends on the volume of your points.

Furthermore, check your point is as simple as anything; all you need is the right short code.

To check your MTN pulse point, simply dial: To check for your Pulse Points balance, dial *406*7*4#

Note: You don’t need to be in a hurry to use your pulse point because it has 12 12-month (1-year) validity for any pulse point accumulated. That is to say that your point stays with you for the whole of you before it expires.

Finally, I believe I have shown you everything you need to know about converting MTN pulse points to airtime. You can’t do that directly, but I have shown you how you can use one stone to kill 2 birds. You don’t only get airtime, you get more data.
