MTN Lumos Subscription Plans (Updated August 2024)

Here is the MTN Lumos Subscription Plans 2024 for those who want to pay for their MTN solar yellow box and yes MTN has recently increased their solar subscription price which is bad for MTN Lumos users. They blame the increment on the current inflation in Nigeria.

However, the new MTN Lumos Subscription Plans 2023 increments doesn’t effect me at all because I have completed the payment since Febuary 2024 which completes it 5 years of partnership with them.

I am going to list the latest MTN Lumos Subscription Plans as recently updated on the 1st of December 2022 and till date the price is still the same. However, I am going to use this opportunity to explain everything you need to know about the Lumos solar system. In case you don’t know, MTN mobile telecommunication doesn’t produce the solar system they are only in partnership witj the people that produced it which is Lumos

It’s strange and obvious that MTN has continued to increase the solar price as if they are paying for the sun that we use to charge the solar. Yes we understand the situation of things in Nigeria, the price of everything has skyrocketed but that doesn’t give MTN the right to keep increasing their subscription price every few months.

I keep saying this, MTN lumos is not that different from someone who is driving a car on a hire purchase and when you give someone a car to use for Uber on a hire purchase for 3 million naira payable under 2 years, there is no way you can call that person after one year and tell him, look I am going to increase the agreed 3 million to 4 million because of the current inflation in Nigeria. No, you can’t do such but with MTN you must suffer and smile and nobody cares about what is wrong or right.

Without any further hesitation lot me show you the current MTN Lumos Subscription Plan prices which they updated on 01-12-2022. They have not updated it again till date.

Note: You must pay for a total of 1800 days which is 5 years before you can stop paying for the subscriptions, you can as well pay for the MTN lumos solar outrightly to escape the montly subscriptions. I am not sure about the current price but you can call MTN using 180 customer care number to enquire about it or better still call Lumos using this numbers 08001234567 (24/7 Customer Support), 08004440444 (8 am to 8.30 pm GMT+1)

When I started using MTN lumos solar system in 2017, I started with 3 months plan and always top it up with monthly plan which I only Pay N4,500 but today the monthly plan is now N7,300 which is N2,800 higher than what it used to be. Moreover, I understand that cost of other things are no longer the same. MTN might not be wrong if they choose to increase their lumos solar subscription price for new customers but facing those who have been using their own since 3 years ago to pay the current price is not right.

If I want to buy something and you tell me the price, its left for me to decide to buy or reject the offer which is not the case here. Someone like me that started with N4,500 monthly agreed because I have checked to know that I can afford it. Increasing the price from N4,500 to N7,300 will not be convenient for me because that’s not what i bargained for.

Total cost of MTN Lumos based on Subscriptions

Let’s do little calculation to see the total amount you might be paying MTN based on the subscription plans, this will show you the total cost of the MTN lumos. However, I am not talking about outright purchase but what the lumos solar will cost you based on their subscriptions because you must subscribe before you can be able to use the solar system.

Finally, I am still using the MTN Lumos solar and all can say is that solar system is far expensive compared to the appliances it can power. However, if at all that you will go for MTN Lumos, save money to buy outrightly and avoid monthly subscription or better still use the money to buy other reliable solar system which is far better than MTN Lumos solar.
