Union Bank Short Code USSD to check Balance

Today, we will explore the Union Bank USSD short code, which allows you to transfer money, check your account balance, pay bills, and more. Union Bank is one of the most popular commercial banks in Nigeria.

A few years ago, all Nigerian commercial banks introduced USSD codes, enabling people to send and receive money easily, even on the go. This service does not require a smartphone or internet connection; it can be used with a basic phone that has your SIM card.

What you can do with Union Bank short codes

Before discussing the Union Bank short codes and how to use them, let’s first look at what you can do with these codes. If your needs are not included in this list, then the code may not work for you, and you should consider visiting your bank for help.

  • Check balance.
  • Transfer money to Union Bank.
  • Transfer money to other banks.
  • Block your account from your phone number.
  • Request a loan.
  • Buy data and airtime.
  • Card management (block and unblock a card).
  • Request for an ATM card.
  • Increase your limit and more.

The lists provided above highlight some of the features available through Union Bank’s USSD code. By the end of this post, you will have the opportunity to explore additional functionalities of the Union Bank USSD code.

Please note: To use any of Union Bank’s USSD codes, you must have an active bank account with Union Bank, as well as a phone number linked to that account.

List of Union Bank USSD short Codes and how to use them

To go straight to the point, I am going to show you the Union Bank USSD codes and how to use them to get things done without stress.

Check balance: *826*4#

Dialing this code allows you to check your account balance instantly. If you are in Nigeria, you can use this short code to access your balance. Keep in mind that you don’t need a smartphone or an internet connection; any phone will work for this purpose.

Buy airtime for yourself: *826*Amount#

If you want to purchase airtime from your Union Bank account, simply dial the short code followed by the amount you wish to recharge and press send.

Buy airtime for others: *826*Amount*3rd party mobile No#

To buy airtime for your parents, a family member, or a friend, dial the code for airtime purchase. Use the format *826*500*03061200040#. This will add 500 Naira of airtime to the phone number 03061200040.

Transfer money to Union Bank: *826*1*Amount*Account No#

Transferring money to the same Union Bank account is a simple process. To do this, dial the USSD code provided, input the amount you want to send, and then enter the destination account number. For example, you would dial *826*10,000*035957835#. This means you are sending 10,000 Naira to the account number 035957835.

Transfer money to other banks: *826*2*Amount*Account no#

To send money to other banks and not Union Bank, you need to dial the short code above. The 2 in between the code informs the system that the money is going to other banks and not a Union bank account number. Example: *826*2*20000*035957835#.

This code tells the system to send the sum of N20,000 to this account number: 035957835. You will be asked for your transaction PIN code before you can be able to complete the transaction.

Cardless withdrawal *826*7*amount#

If you run out of cash and you are not with your ATM card, then there is an option for you to get cash if you see an ATM around you. However, you must have your phone with you before you can be able to perform a cashless withdrawal.

Just as the name implies, this is a means of withdrawing money from an ATM without your card, and to get started, all you need is to dial the right USSD code, which is: *826*7*amount#. With this short code, you will be able to withdraw your money
