I discovered GENIEX mobile data connection a few months ago, but I wanted to know more about it before sharing it with you guys. In this post, I will show you the beautiful things about GENIEX and the things you can do with it.
What is GENIEX?
GENIEX is an internet service provider that can help you connect to the internet anywhere and anytime in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya. For the first time in my life, I never knew I could connect and browse with my phone without a SIM card. Mind you that I am not referring to a WIFI connection.
I don’t know how they did it but trust me, I tested their services without any SIM card on my phone, and it worked like magic. I have been using their services for a while now and will share my experience, the good and the bad of GENIEX network provider.
How it started
I couldn’t have known about the GENIEX network provider if not because Tecno, Infinix, and their likes have a way to show their mobile users that they are not entirely in charge. A few months ago, while navigating through my phone menu, I saw the app with the name GENIEX on my phone, which I didn’t install, but I don’t know how Tecno managed to push it to my Camon 17 Pro.
I got angry and deleted it immediately without even checking because I hate that the app got into my phone without my consent. However, after some weeks, they tried again, pushing the app back to my phone, which is so annoying. They believe I needed the app but installing it on my phone without my consent is not the right way.
Since Tecno and its partners keep pushing it on my phone, I decided to check it out to know what it is and how it works. I tapped the menu icon, and when the app opened, I saw it was a network connection app, and they promised to offer data connectivity even without any SIM card on my phone. I thought it was a joke, but it’s not, I tried it, and it worked, but till now, I have not recovered how they did it.
I have not deleted the GENIEX app from my phone because it’s not as bad as I thought, and trust me, I will tell you why I have kept it on my phone to date.
Benefits of using GENIEX network provider
I promised to tell you the good and bad things about this GENIEX, and I am going to start with the benefits or the advantages of using the GENIEX services.
1. Cheap Data plans: GENIEX has a data plan that you must buy for browsing, but its data is more affordable, and they offer promotional data plans that you can’t resist.
2. Buy data and pay later: GENIEX is in partnership with Ok pay, which allows you to buy any data of your choice when you run out of cash and pay later when you can. That means with money or no money; you can still connect.
3. Cheap data for social Apps: You can subscribe to your favorite social apps like Whatsapp, Tiktok, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Social bundles are very affordable.
4. Play free internet games: GENIEX gives you one hour of fun for free; there are some selected internet games you can play between 4 PM – 5 PM daily
5. You can get reward coins: GENIEX sets a reward zone where you can get coins for every action you perform on their app, like the more data you use, the more coins you get. The coins can be used to subscribe to a data plan and to win unique gifts.
I will stop here because there is more to enjoy about using this network provider. Moreover, they still have a long way to go because they are still lacking in many things.
Where GENIEX needs improvement
For me, GENIEX is not close to being perfect, but they are trying anyway; I was asking myself how on earth a phone can connect to the internet without a SIM card or WIFI, but again, I realized some network phones don’t use SIM card to work, even the MTN Lumos solar still has network without SIM card.
From my findings, GENIEX partnered with MTN to be able to tap from their network, which is good, but they should also partner with other network operators like Airtel and Glo. I said this because MTN doesn’t work well in my area during the day, apart from between 1 AM – 5 AM, and that’s precisely how the GENIEX works.
GENIEX should be able to connect to the fastest network in any particular area; their app should be able to access different network operators and connect based on speed.
NO USSD shortcode for data subscription
Another problem with GENIEX is that you need to buy data plans with your bank card, not with airtime, as with MTN, GLO, and Airtel. No USSD shortcode for data subscription, which is another problem. Everything you pay for on GENIEX must be with your bank ATM card.
How to download GENIEX network provider?
I can say that GENIEX is suitable for those who live in MTN fast locations because they somehow found a way to connect to MTN 4G network even without any SIM on your phone. If you doubt me, download the app, remove all your Sim, and try to see yourself.
