The GTB USSD code is a short banking channel built around *737#. GTBank calls the service Bank 737.

It can be used to:

• Send money to GTBank accounts.
• Transfer money to other Nigerian banks.
• Check account balance and account details.
• Buy airtime for yourself or another person.
• Purchase mobile data.
• Open a GTBank account.
• Reactivate an eligible inactive account.
• Pay supported bills.
• Generate a one-time password.
• Make a cardless ATM withdrawal.
• Check loan, card and cheque-book status.
• Request eligible credit products.
• Block or blacklist an account in an emergency.

No banking application or Wi-Fi connection is required. You only need a working mobile line, network coverage and access to the phone number registered on the account.

Some credit and specialist services are available only to eligible customers. A code opening successfully does not guarantee approval.

What You Need to Use the GTB USSD Code

Before using Bank 737 on an existing GTBank account, make sure that:

• Your SIM is the phone number registered with GTBank.
• The line can initiate USSD sessions.
• The phone has a mobile-network signal.
• You have an eligible individual GTBank account.
• You can provide the requested verification details.
• You have created or can create a secure four-digit 737 PIN.
• You have enough money for the transaction and applicable charges.

GTBank states that the service is available on the major Nigerian mobile networks. An older reference on its website uses the former Etisalat name, which is now 9mobile.

Corporate, joint, domiciliary and certain specialised account types may not support every Bank 737 function. If the code recognises your line but refuses a transfer, the account type or transaction limit may be responsible.

How to Register or Activate the GTB USSD Code

GTBank does not require a separate enrolment form for basic Bank 737 access. Dial the code from the number registered on your account and follow the displayed instructions.

For transactions requiring a PIN, create a 737 transaction PIN:

1. Open your phone’s dialler.
2. Dial *737*5#.
3. Enter the last six digits of your active GTBank debit card when requested.
4. Create a new four-digit transaction PIN.
5. Confirm the PIN.
6. Wait for the successful confirmation message.

Do not choose:

• 1234
• 0000
• Your birth year
• Four repeated numbers
• The last four digits of your phone number
• Your ATM card PIN

Your 737 PIN should be known only to you. GTBank staff, mobile-network agents and genuine customer-care representatives should not ask you to disclose the complete PIN.

Is registration required before using *737#?

There is no separate application or banking-hall registration for standard access. However, your phone number must already be connected to your account, and you may need to create the 737 transaction PIN before completing transfers and other protected transactions.

Can I activate GTBank USSD without an ATM card?

The official PIN-creation process requests the last six digits of an active debit card. If you do not have an active card, do not use another person’s card details or guess the numbers. Contact GTBank through an official channel or visit a branch to ask for an available verification alternative.

How to Transfer Money With the GTB USSD Code

GTBank uses different direct codes for transfers within GTBank and transfers to other banks.

Before entering your PIN:

• Verify the recipient’s account name.
• Confirm the destination bank.
• Check the amount.
• Read the displayed transaction charge.
• Cancel the session if any detail is wrong.

Never approve a transfer because a caller is pressuring you to act quickly.

GTB Transfer Code to Another GTBank Account

To send money from GTBank to another GTBank account, dial:

For example, to transfer ₦5,000 to GTBank account 0123456789, dial:

Then:

1. Confirm the beneficiary’s name.
2. Review the amount and charge.
3. Enter your 737 PIN or other requested authentication.

Do not include a comma or naira symbol in the amount. Enter 5000, not ₦5,000.

GTB Transfer Code to Other Banks

To transfer money from GTBank to another Nigerian bank, dial:

For example, to send ₦10,000 to account 1234567890, dial:

*737*2*10000*1234567890#

Select the recipient’s bank when asked, verify the resolved account name and confirm with the required authentication.

The 1 after *737* is for a GTBank beneficiary, while 2 is for a beneficiary at another bank. Using the wrong format may prevent the transfer or take you through the wrong transaction route.

GTBank USSD Transfer Limit

GTBank’s current feature page states a daily Bank 737 transfer limit of up to ₦1,000,000, subject to authentication and account eligibility:

• Transfers from ₦100 to ₦500,000 can require a 737 PIN or hardware token.
• Transfers from ₦500,001 to ₦1,000,000 require a hardware token.
• A one-time indemnity may be required for transactions above ₦100,000.

However, another GTBank FAQ section still displays an older daily cumulative limit of ₦200,000. This means a limit copied from an old article may not match your account.

The limit actually displayed or enforced during your transaction is the one that applies to you. It can depend on:

• Your account type.
• Your completed documentation.
• Whether an indemnity is on file.
• The authentication method available.
• Security restrictions on the account.
• Changes made by GTBank.

If you need a higher limit, use GTWorld, internet banking or ask GTBank about the requirements for increasing your transaction limit.

GTBank USSD Charges

GTBank’s own online FAQ currently contains conflicting figures for transfers to other banks. Its short-code table displays ₦80, while a later answer on the same page displays ₦50. Both sections list ₦20 for transfers to another GTBank account.

Because fees can change and the official page itself is inconsistent, I recommend checking the charge shown on your phone before entering your PIN.

The official FAQ also lists:

• Airtime purchase as free from the bank’s side.
• Data purchase as free from the bank’s side.
• Balance enquiry at ₦10.
• Loan-balance enquiry at ₦10.
• Card-status enquiry at ₦10.
• Cardless withdrawal at ₦50.
• OTP generation as free.

An additional mobile-network or USSD access charge may apply to a session. The bank fee and the USSD access fee are not necessarily the same charge.

How to Check GTBank Account Balance With USSD

Dial:

*737*6*1#

Then follow the instructions and provide your 737 PIN when requested.

The same enquiry route can display:

• Your GTBank account balance.
• Your GTBank account number.
• The BVN connected to the account.

GTBank currently lists a charge for this enquiry. Read the prompt before confirming.

Do not check your balance while an unfamiliar person is watching your screen. A balance display can expose private financial information even if the person does not know your PIN.

How to Buy Airtime From GTBank

The airtime code depends on whether you are recharging your registered line or another number.

Buy airtime for yourself

Dial:

*737*Amount#

For example, to buy ₦1,000 airtime:

The airtime will be sent to the phone number registered with GTBank.

Buy airtime for someone else

Dial:

*737*Amount*PhoneNumber#

Confirm the recipient’s number and authorise the transaction.

GTBank currently states a combined daily airtime-purchase limit of ₦10,000 for self and third-party recharge. The bank may revise this limit.

An airtime purchase is normally difficult to reverse once it reaches the entered phone number. Check every digit before confirming.

How to Buy Data With the GTB USSD Code

Dial:

Follow the menu to:

1. Select the mobile network.
2. Choose whether the data is for your number or another number.
3. Select a data bundle.
4. Confirm the recipient’s phone number.
5. Review the price.
6. Enter your 737 PIN.

The available bundles and menu numbers can change. Follow the live options on your phone rather than an old screenshot.

How to Open a GTBank Account With *737

Dial:

Follow the instructions to provide the requested personal details. GTBank will send the generated account number by SMS after a successful application.

An account opened through the code may begin as a limited account. GTBank’s current Bank 737 information lists restrictions for its instant account, including:

• A maximum deposit per transaction of ₦20,000.
• A maximum account balance of ₦100,000.
• A later verification and BVN-linking requirement.

These limits may apply until you provide the documentation needed to upgrade the account. Do not split transactions to avoid identity or account-tier requirements.

How to Reactivate a GTBank Account

GTBank lists *737*11# for reactivating an eligible account.

1. Dial *737*11# from your registered number.
2. Enter your BVN when requested.
3. Enter an account-officer code if you know it, or follow the alternative shown.
4. Complete the displayed steps.
5. GTBank may require a qualifying transaction, such as buying at least ₦100 airtime, to complete the process.

The code may not handle every dormant or restricted account. An account affected by incomplete documentation, a court order, compliance review or unresolved identity problem may require a branch visit.

How to Make a Cardless Withdrawal

To request a cardless withdrawal, dial:

*737*3*Amount#

Follow the prompts and authenticate with your 737 PIN. A withdrawal code will be generated.

At a supported GTBank ATM:

1. Select the cardless-withdrawal option.
2. Enter the requested reference or withdrawal code.
3. Provide any additional verification information.
4. Confirm the amount.
5. Collect the cash and receipt.

Do not share the withdrawal code with anyone. Treat it like cash because another person may be able to use it before it expires.

How to Generate a GTBank OTP

Dial:

*737*7#

Enter your 737 PIN when requested. GTBank states that the generated OTP can be used to validate eligible transactions on internet banking, mobile banking or GTWorld.

Its Bank 737 information states that the OTP:

• Can validate eligible transactions up to ₦500,000.
• Is valid for 120 seconds.
• Requires the 737 PIN for generation.

An OTP is private. Do not read it to a caller, send it through social media or enter it on a page opened from an unsolicited message.

How to Pay Bills With GTBank USSD

Dial:

*737*50#

The live menu will show supported billers and payment options.

GTBank also publishes some direct bill-payment formats, including:

GTBank lists several credit-related 737 codes:

Loan availability, amount, interest, tenor and repayment conditions depend on eligibility and the offer displayed to you. Review the total repayment and terms before accepting.

Do not pay a stranger to “unlock” a GTBank loan. An agent cannot guarantee that a bank’s automated eligibility system will approve you.

How to Block a GTBank Card or Account

GTBank publishes separate codes for a debit card and an account.

Hotlist a GTBank debit card

Dial:

*737*51*10#

Follow the instructions carefully. Hotlisting the card is appropriate when the physical debit card is lost, stolen or exposed.

Blacklist a GTBank account

Dial:

*737*51*74#

Use the account-blacklist option only in a genuine security emergency and read every prompt before confirming. Restricting the whole account can affect more services than blocking one debit card.

If your registered phone or SIM has been stolen and you cannot access the line safely, contact GTBank immediately through an official number and ask your mobile network to block the SIM.

GTB USSD Code Not Working

The Bank 737 service may fail because of the mobile network, your registered number, account restrictions, an expired session or a temporary bank outage.

Try the following checks.

Confirm the code

The main code is *737#. Direct transactions must follow the exact format and end with #.

Use the registered phone number

For an existing account, dial from the SIM linked to GTBank. If you recently changed your number, update your bank record through an approved GTBank channel.

Check network coverage

USSD does not require data, but it still requires a mobile-network signal. Move to an area with better reception or try again later.

Select the correct SIM

On a dual-SIM phone, choose the line registered with GTBank. Setting the wrong default calling SIM can make the bank unable to identify your account.

Restart the phone

Restarting can reconnect the SIM to the mobile network and clear a stuck USSD session.

Avoid repeated transactions

If a transfer times out, check your balance and transaction alert before trying again. Repeating the code immediately can result in a duplicate payment if the first request succeeded after the screen closed.

Check the account

The transaction can fail because of:

• Insufficient funds.
• A daily limit.
• An inactive or restricted account.
• An unsupported account type.
• An incorrect PIN.
• A security block.
• An expired debit card needed for verification.

Contact GTBank

If the code continues to fail, contact GTConnect using a number obtained from GTBank’s official website or visit a branch. Current contact numbers published by GTBank include +234 201 448 0000 and +234 700 4826 66328.

Never call a number copied from an unverified social-media comment.

Transaction Failed but My Account Was Debited

Do not repeat the transaction immediately.

1. Check your balance.
2. Request a mini statement with *737*51*30# if the service is available.
3. Check SMS, email, GTWorld or internet-banking transaction history.
4. Ask the recipient to confirm independently.
5. Save the amount, time, beneficiary and transaction reference.
6. Wait for an automatic reversal where appropriate.
7. Contact GTBank if the money is not reversed within the bank’s stated resolution period.

Do not share your PIN, complete card details or OTP when reporting the problem. A legitimate complaint can be investigated using the account and transaction reference.

How to Keep GTBank USSD Banking Secure

Use these precautions:

• Lock your phone with a secure PIN, password or biometric method.
• Keep your 737 PIN private.
• Do not reuse your ATM PIN as the 737 PIN.
• Hide the screen when entering sensitive information.
• Confirm the beneficiary’s name before transferring.
• Do not approve a transaction you did not initiate.
• Ignore callers asking you to dial an unfamiliar code.
