How to Borrow Airtime from Glo Using *303# in 2026

How to borrow airtime from Glo using the *303# Borrow Me Credit code

The code to borrow airtime from Glo is *303#. Dial it from your Glo line, select Borrow Credit, choose one of the amounts offered to you and confirm the request. Glo will deduct a 15% service charge before crediting the remaining airtime to your account.

For example, borrowing ₦100 gives you ₦85 to use, while ₦15 is taken as the service charge. The full ₦100 debt is recovered later, normally from your next airtime recharge. Glo may also recover an outstanding Borrow Me Credit debt from a data bundle you purchase.

Only eligible prepaid subscribers can use the service, and the amount available is determined by Glo based on factors such as how long the line has been active and its recharge history.

The main code is *303#. It is safer to start with the menu because it shows the amounts for which your number is currently eligible. A direct code will fail if the selected amount is above your approved limit.

How to borrow airtime from Glo using *303

Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Phone or Dialler app.
  2. Dial *303# from your Glo SIM.
  3. Select the option for Borrow Credit.
  4. Review the airtime amounts displayed.
  5. Select the amount you need.
  6. Confirm the transaction.
  7. Wait for Glo’s confirmation message.

The usable airtime is credited immediately when the request succeeds. Check it by dialing *310#.

In a dual-SIM phone, make sure the request is sent from the Glo line. Sending the code with an MTN, Airtel or 9mobile SIM will not open the Glo borrowing menu.

How to borrow a specific amount from Glo

Glo also publishes direct short codes for common loan amounts:

  • Dial *303*50# to request ₦50.
  • Dial *303*100# to request ₦100.
  • Dial *303*200# to request ₦200.
  • Dial *303*500# to request ₦500.
  • Dial *303*1000# to request ₦1,000.

These codes request the stated loan value, not the amount eventually credited. The 15% service charge is removed before the airtime reaches your usable balance.

If you request ₦500, for instance, your debt is ₦500 but the usable airtime is ₦425. Glo takes ₦75 as its service charge.

Glo Borrow Me Credit charges

Glo currently applies a 15% service charge to most Borrow Me Credit amounts. The charge is taken upfront, so the amount credited is lower than the amount you will repay.

Glo’s published table contains rounded figures for some denominations. The exact amount shown in the USSD confirmation prompt should be treated as final. Read it before accepting the loan.

Who is eligible to borrow airtime from Glo?

Borrow Me Credit is for active Glo prepaid subscribers who satisfy the network’s eligibility rules. Glo’s current eligibility table indicates that the line should have been active for at least three months and should have a suitable monthly recharge record.

Eligibility is not based only on SIM age. Glo uses the number’s activity and refill history to decide whether it can borrow and how much it can receive. Two numbers registered on the same day may therefore receive different offers.

You generally need to meet these conditions:

  • The number must be an active Glo prepaid line.
  • The SIM must be properly registered.
  • The line should have been active for at least three months.
  • The number must have a consistent recharge history.
  • Any previous Borrow Me Credit or Borrow Me Data debt must be fully repaid.
  • The requested amount must be within the limit offered to your line.

There is no application form or credit document to submit. Dialling *303# is the quickest eligibility check. If the menu displays loan amounts, select one. If it says you are not eligible, you cannot force the service with a direct denomination code.

How much airtime can I borrow from Glo?

Glo’s official table lists possible denominations from ₦25 up to ₦4,000, but this does not mean every subscriber can borrow ₦4,000. Your personal limit is based on the network’s assessment of your line.

A subscriber who recharges frequently may see more options than someone who rarely uses the number. Your limit may increase as you keep the SIM active, recharge consistently and repay previous loans.

Borrow only what you need. Since the service fee is 15%, taking ₦1,000 gives only ₦850 in usable airtime while leaving a ₦1,000 debt. A smaller emergency amount may be more economical if it can complete the required call.

How Glo airtime loan repayment works

Borrowed Glo airtime is not free bonus credit. It is a short-term advance that Glo recovers automatically.

If you borrow ₦200 and later recharge ₦500, Glo can deduct the outstanding ₦200 and leave the remaining ₦300 in your account. The ₦30 service charge was already removed before the ₦170 loan airtime was credited, so the repayment is still the full ₦200.

If your next recharge is lower than the debt, Glo can recover it partially. Suppose you owe ₦500 and recharge ₦200. The recharge may be taken towards the debt, leaving ₦300 outstanding. Later recharges can be deducted until the debt is cleared.

You must repay the outstanding amount before you can borrow again.

Glo can recover airtime debt from purchased data

This is one of the most important current Borrow Me Credit rules. Glo’s Recovery by Data feature allows the network to recover an unpaid airtime or data loan from a newly purchased data bundle.

Repayment can therefore occur through:

  • an airtime recharge; or
  • a purchased data bundle.

Glo says the system uses whichever eligible balance becomes available first. Recovery from data may happen when you buy a new bundle or when the recovery system checks an outstanding loan after 72 hours.

The debt is converted to an equivalent data value using the network’s configured conversion rate. If several data plans are active, Glo says it selects them using this order:

  1. The currently active plan.
  2. The plan with the highest available data volume.
  3. The plan that expires first when volumes are equal.
  4. Random selection when both volume and expiry are identical.

Main data is prioritised for recovery. Glo states that 70MB will remain available for the subscriber rather than being used for debt recovery. If the available data cannot settle the full debt while retaining that 70MB, recovery can be partial and continue later.

An SMS should state what was recovered and whether a balance remains. If data disappears shortly after buying a bundle, check whether an old Borrow Me Credit or Borrow Me Data debt was outstanding before assuming that the bundle failed.

Can borrowed Glo airtime buy data?

Borrow Me Credit gives airtime for eligible services, but availability for buying products can depend on the account from which Glo tries to deduct the purchase. The clearest option when internet access is the goal is to use Glo’s separate Borrow Me Data service instead of borrowing credit and then trying to convert it.

Dial *321# to see the data loans available to your number. Borrow Me Data has its own volume, validity, fee and repayment rules. Night bonuses included with some plans can only be used between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Read how to borrow data from Glo for the current data amounts and validity periods. If you already have a bundle, use the code to check Glo data balance before borrowing another one.

How to check borrowed airtime balance on Glo

After a successful request, dial:

*310#

Glo should also send an SMS showing the transaction. Keep that message until the loan has been repaid because it helps you compare the amount requested, the service charge and the airtime credited.

The balance may be displayed separately from ordinary airtime depending on the account configuration. The confirmation SMS is often the clearest record of what happened.

Can I borrow airtime from Glo without repaying an old loan?

No. Glo states that an outstanding Borrow Me loan must be fully repaid before the subscriber becomes eligible to borrow again.

If *303# refuses another request, recharge enough to cover the entire debt. Remember that a small recharge may only make a partial payment. Try the code again after receiving the repayment confirmation.

How to increase your Glo borrowing limit

There is no public code that manually raises a Borrow Me Credit limit. The network determines it automatically. These habits may improve the activity record Glo uses:

  • Keep the line active over time.
  • Recharge consistently rather than leaving the SIM unused for months.
  • Use the line for calls, SMS or data.
  • Repay borrowed credit promptly through a sufficient recharge.
  • Avoid leaving a loan partly unpaid.

None of these steps guarantees a particular limit. The amounts displayed after dialling *303# are the amounts currently approved for that number.

Why the Glo borrow airtime code is not working

Your number is not eligible

A new or rarely recharged line may not satisfy the eligibility test. Continue using and recharging the SIM, then check again later.

You have an unpaid loan

Repay the full outstanding Borrow Me Credit or Borrow Me Data balance. A partial recharge does not restore eligibility if some debt remains.

The amount is above your limit

Use *303# instead of a direct code and select one of the amounts Glo actually offers.

You selected the wrong SIM

On a dual-SIM device, repeat the request and choose the Glo line.

The USSD session timed out

Network congestion can end the session before confirmation. Wait briefly and try again. Do not send repeated direct requests without first checking your balance, as one attempt may already have succeeded.

The SIM has a registration or service restriction

An inactive, barred or improperly registered number may be unable to use borrowing services. Contact Glo on 300 or visit a Gloworld outlet with valid identification.

What to do if Glo deducts airtime or data incorrectly

First, check recent borrowing and recharge messages. Confirm whether the deduction matches an outstanding loan. Remember that the amount repaid is the full denomination borrowed, not the smaller usable airtime that was credited.

If the deduction appears wrong:

  1. Do not delete the confirmation and recovery messages.
  2. Note the date, time, amount borrowed and amount deducted.
  3. Dial 300 from a Glo line.
  4. Ask the agent to verify the Borrow Me Credit record and remaining debt.
  5. Request a reference number if the case requires investigation.

Glo says customers can dispute a recovery transaction and customer care can examine the relevant credit and data records.

Choose the product that directly matches the need. Borrowing airtime for a call is straightforward. Borrowing data is usually clearer when the goal is WhatsApp, browsing, email or another internet service.

Frequently asked questions

What is the code to borrow airtime from Glo?

Dial *303#, select Borrow Credit, choose an available amount and confirm.

Can I borrow ₦100 airtime directly from Glo?

Yes, if your line is eligible. Dial *303*100#. Glo deducts a ₦15 service charge and credits ₦85, while the debt to repay remains ₦100.

What is the old Glo borrow code?

Older articles may mention *321# for the entire borrowing service. The current official Glo page assigns *303# to Borrow Me Credit and *321# to Borrow Me Data.

How much does Glo charge for borrowed airtime?

The published charge is generally 15% of the requested amount. The fee is removed before the remaining airtime is credited.

When will Glo deduct the loan?

Glo normally recovers it when you next recharge airtime. It may also recover an outstanding loan from purchased data, including through a recovery check after 72 hours.

Can I borrow airtime on a new Glo SIM?

Usually not immediately. Glo’s eligibility table indicates a minimum of three months on the network along with a suitable recharge history.

Why did I receive only ₦85 after borrowing ₦100?

Glo removed the 15% service charge of ₦15 upfront. You receive ₦85 but repay ₦100.

Can I borrow twice before recharging?

Glo requires the outstanding loan to be fully repaid before another loan is approved.

Can Glo remove my purchased data to repay borrowed airtime?

Yes. Glo’s Recovery by Data system may convert the outstanding debt to a data equivalent and deduct it from an eligible purchased bundle. Glo says it retains 70MB for the subscriber.

How do I know the amount Glo will lend me?

Dial *303#. The menu displays the denominations currently available to your line. Your limit depends on Glo’s assessment of the SIM’s age, activity and recharge history.

How do I check my Glo airtime balance?

Dial *310#. For a fuller explanation, read how to check Glo airtime balance.

Can I cancel borrowed airtime after confirming it?

The official Glo page does not provide a cancellation code. Once the transaction succeeds and airtime is credited, expect the full borrowed denomination to be recovered.

Borrow Me Credit is useful when an urgent call cannot wait for a normal recharge, but the 15% fee makes it more expensive than using your own airtime. Dial *303#, take the smallest amount that solves the immediate problem, and remember that the full loan may be recovered from your next airtime recharge or purchased data bundle.
